Holidays on a rural tourism farm, continuing its production and at the same time renting rooms to a small number of tourists have always been very popular. As it is an interesting alternative to staying in regular holiday centres, it has recently become quite popular with Polish vacationers. There are a continuously growing number of farms that are able to provide a good standard of accommodation as well as wholesome home cooking prepared with healthy, farm-fresh ingredients.
Those who appreciate peaceful surroundings and close contact with nature choose this kind of holiday, not to be found at crowded and noisy resorts and holiday centres.
Holidays spent at a farm have an active character. Not only can guests take part in easy farm chores, but they can also mount horses or take a buggy for a ride, catch fish in the farm pond or nearby lake or river, or go on a cycling tour or hike in the countryside.
Some licensed farms offer organic agricultural products and also cater to tourists. Some specialised tourist villages have rooms for hire end some have forester's lodges.
There are over one thousand rural tourism farms in Poland and the majority of them are located in the most attractive regions of the country such as the Pomeranian Lakeland, the Mazurian lake District and the Suwalki Region, Great Poland (Wielkopolska), the Swietokrzyskie Mountains, and also in the foothills of the Sydety, Tatry and Bieszczady Mountain Ranges.
Regional rural tourism associations and their national representation, known as the Hospitable Farms Federation of Rural Tourism, provide full information. A catalogue of services offered by associated farms has already been published.
